Vintage 1940s Straw Boater Hat with Bows and Face Veil 。This is truly an outstanding hat from the fashionable 1940s\'! The hat is made of a composite felt in primarily black color, but it has tiny beige flecks, which dates it to the early 1940s. A circular topstitched felt edged in black straw has been attached to the cap. The back of the circle is curled towards the front then attached to itself, creating 2 \"cones\", adding drama to this beautiful headpiece. There are large black grosgrain bows at the center back. An elastic band is attached inside. A beautiful full veil completes the dramatic look. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular.
